Who is Garrett?

Hi! I’m Garrett Zartman, born in Fort Worth, Texas and now living in the beautiful city of Austin. I’m an avid bike rider and longboarder when I have time to get outside, and my friends can attest I’ll know any car or motorcycle from a glance.

But you’re probably here because of my work with cameras and lighting. My love for filmmaking began as a kid, helped by my family to make action and horror shorts using whatever variety of props interested me that day. Since then, I began pursuing my passion for film in high school and have devoted most of my time to my film education since then.

In addition to my main focus in cinematography, gaffing, and color work shown on the site, I also work to maintain my skills as a camera operator, camera assistant, and director.

I’m a a recent graduate of UT Austin’s Radio-Television-Film department with experience on both undergraduate and graduate thesis projects. I’ve done interviews, music videos, narrative shorts, documentaries, and even a narrative feature. I love working in the Austin music scene and hope to break into the indie film world post-graduation.

My current gear list is short, but I’ve trained in nearly every camera system under the sun during my time in school, including ARRI, RED, Sony, Canon, Panasonic, Blackmagic.
